JAKARTA - Playing an active role in decarbonization, PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) and PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) initiated the agenda "Beyond Zero: Mobility for Carbon Neutrality", as an exhibition of Green Mobility Solutions.

This event is an effort to show the public how the Indonesian automotive industry has begun to make a transition to carbon neutrality.

Toyota also sees "Beyond Zero" as an attempt to create and provide more value, by continuing to find ways to improve life and society in the future.

The CEO of Toyota Region Asia Masahiko Maeda said, with Indonesia's efforts to realize the nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target and energy security, Toyota acts as a committed partner in this journey.

"The emission carbon is a common enemy and must be reduced as soon as possible. Toyota is committed to providing electrification technology options, ranging from biofuels and flexy-fuels to hybrids and hydrogen cell technology. The concept of Beyond Zero emphasizes Toyota's dedication to overcoming all challenges in innovation," said Maeda when opening the Beyond Zero: Mobility for Carbon Netrality at Gambir Expo, JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12.

This event will take place from 12-15 February 2025 at Gambir Expo, JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Visitors can experience and direct drive tests of various choices of environmentally friendly vehicles that apply the concept of multiple-path. Including, low-emissioned and high-tech vehicles that use environmentally friendly fuels, flexy-fuel machines (biodiesel, bio-ethenol), conversion vehicles and electrified vehicles (HEV, PHEV, BEV, FCEV) that contribute to emission reduction.

In addition, visitors can also learn about carbon neutrality through exhibitions, public advocacy, discussions related to the green industry, energy transitions to bio-fuel roadmaps.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Setia Diarta said that the government appreciated Toyota's steps in supporting efforts to reduce emissions.

"Today's event arrangement proves that Toyota is not only focused on business aspects, but also has a strong commitment to building a sustainable and global competitive industrial ecosystem," he said.

On the same occasion, President Director of PT TMMIN Nandi Julyanto said, as part of the national automotive industry, Toyota Indonesia invited all parties to participate in Beyond Zero: Mobility for Carbon Netrality, with the positive involvement of Indonesian people helping the government to realize Net Zero Emissions in 2060.

"We realize that this emission reduction target cannot be achieved by just one party or one technology, so in this event we present various types of vehicles and energy technology with multi-pathway strategies," he said.

Nandi added, in line with Toyota's principle of "No One Left Behind", all technology contributes to reducing carbon emissions and reducing fuel imports, which also helps maintain or increase the national trade balance.

"This, if used optimally, will have a positive impact on the automotive industry and its supply chain which employs more than 300,000 workers and is adapting to future automotive technology more sophisticated," he explained.

To note, Toyota Indonesia collaborates with the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), industry players, Pertamina, PLN, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Agroindustri Research and Development Center, PT Serasi Auto Raya (SERA), PT Mobility Digital Indonesia (MODA) and Toyota Tsusho in this event.

Then, there are also academics such as, the UGM Institute of Technology (ITB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Singapore National University (NUS). Including, Zero Board startups and stakeholders who provide innovative solutions through products, services and operational activities that not only eliminate emissions, but also contribute to environmental sustainability and energy security in Indonesia.

Beyond Zero: Mobility for Carbon Netrality is an example of a positive collaboration between Toyota Indonesia and the Ministry of Industry. Given, this event became a bridge for the Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) organized by the Ministry of Industry.
