Argo Parahyangan Train Will Change Name To Parahyangan Train As Of February 1, 2025

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI will change the name of the Argo Parahyangan Train (KA) to Parahyangan Train. The new name of the train will be effective as of February 1, 2025.

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo explained that the name change had been listed in the 2025 Railway Travel Graphics (Gapeka) compiled by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"Because of the Gapeka. Who did it? We'll just go with it," said Didiek when met at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22.

Separately, the Public Relations Manager of KAI 2 Bandung Ayep Hanap explained that there was no change in service for the Bandung Station-Gambir Station trip, even though there was a name change to KA Parahyangan.

"Starting February 1, 2025, the Argo Parahyangan train for the Bandung-Gambir relationship will begin with the implementation of Gapeka 2025 being KA Parahyangan," he said.

Furthermore, Ayep said that this name change was made because the Parahyangan train was not the whole series of executive classes.

"For the naming of trains, Argo has a series of executive classes, while Parahyangan Train has a series of executive classes and economic classes," he said.

Ayep explained the origin of the Argo Parahyangan train. He said it initially started with the presence of the first train to serve the relationship between Bandung Station and Gambir Station, namely KA Parahyangan in 1971.

In 1995, Ayep said, Argo Gede Train was present. The train was launched in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's independence. Thus, the trains that serve the relationship between Bandung Station and Gambir Station are two, namely Argo Parahyangan train and Argo Gede train.

"In 2010, the two trains were put together as Argo Parahyangan trains," he said.

Then, continued Ayep, it was decided again that the naming of Argo Parahyangan train would be changed to Parahyangan Train starting February 1, 2025. However, for services, routes, and ticket prices remain the same.

For your information, the ticket price for the Argo Parahyangan train executive class ranges from Rp. 200,000 to Rp. 250,000, while for the economy class it is Rp. 150,0000.

"The service is still the same, and the average travel time is 3 hours," he said.
