Appointed By Jokowi As US Ambassador, Rosan Roeslani Also Promises To Be An 'Ambassador' For Indonesian Entrepreneurs' Interests

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has appointed former Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, to be Indonesia's ambassador to the United States. Rosan also promised to be an ambassador who also represents Indonesian businessmen. Because he claimed to be Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) stationed in America.

"Even though I will be placed Insha Allah in the US as an ambassador, whatever I can do, whatever I can facilitate with my abilities that I have for the benefit of Kadin, for the benefit of associations, and also for the benefit of the business world, of course, I will do it as much as possible," he said at a virtual event for the 53rd Kadin Anniversary, Friday, September 24.

According to Rosan, during the COVID-19 pandemic which does not provide certainty, it is necessary to emphasize taking care of each other. He said, by taking care of each other, they will become stronger and better in facing the various challenges ahead.

"Because again, we are all one big family, as the general chairman said earlier that the family, of course, we will take care of each other, love, then make the best for the benefit of not only Kadin, associations and the business world. I strongly believe in the future Kadin will better," he said.

Rosan said that several months ago many people were reluctant to leave their homes for fear of being exposed to COVID-19. However, now people have started to dare to leave the house. This is because the handling of the virus is better.

However, continued Rosan, the uncertain times will continue. Therefore, he reminded to remain obedient and disciplined in implementing the COVID-19 health protocols (prokes).

"We hope that with a very, very extraordinary government, we can suppress COVID-19 more and more, and hopefully it will continue to slope. So that the health sector can be handled properly, and have a positive impact on the economic sector going forward as well," he said.

On the same occasion, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arsjad Rasjid, asked Rosan not only to be Indonesia's ambassador to the United States. But also became an ambassador for the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry there. Arsjad wants Indonesia's export level to be more than the current achievement

"The relationship between Indonesia and America must be well established in order to increase the value of our exports there," said Arsjad.
