JAKARTA - Djarum Group through the Djarum Foundation handed over 1,000 oxygen concentrators to the government in order to support the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vice Director of Djarum Foundation Achmad Budiharto said that what he was doing was a form of corporate social responsibility to address the problems that occurred.
"We hope that this oxygen concentrator donation can anticipate if the surge in COVID-19 patients occurs again. But of course, let's pray together that the spike in cases will not happen again and Indonesia will soon be out of the pandemic," he said in an official statement as quoted on Saturday, September 11.
According to Achmad, oxygen concentrators can be an alternative to oxygen therapy used by the community. This tool became popular because it is easy to carry, has a lighter weight and does not need to refill oxygen like conventional oxygen cylinders.
"In addition to COVID-19 patients, oxygen concentrators can be used for other patients who suffer from respiratory diseases and decreased oxygen saturation in the blood," he said.
On the same occasion, Plt. The Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, as a government representative, said that his party supports various programs and activities carried out by the industrial sector to take part in dealing with the impact of the pandemic.
"This is a positive step and a form of social concern from industry players for public health while accelerating the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
Putu added that the oxygen concentrator donation from the Djarum Foundation is a tangible manifestation of good cooperation between the government and the industrial sector.
"This concern means that the domestic industry is not only a driver of the economy, but also shares the burden when the country is in difficult conditions," he added.
During the pandemic, the Ministry of Industry is determined to keep the activities of the industrial sector running because it is to meet the needs of domestic consumers and the export market.
"Through the industrial sector, it continues to operate, it helps to maintain investment and the absorption of the existing workforce, which of course spurs economic growth," said Putu.
