JAKARTA - One of the results of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (BDMN) is the appointment of Halim Alamsyah as an Independent Commissioner. So who is this figure of Halim Alamsyah?

Currently, Halim serves as Expert Staff to the Minister of Finance in the Field of Islamic Finance and Finance. Halim is a graduate of the Bachelor of Economics from the Faculty of Economics, Islamic University of Indonesia, Yogyakarta, and a Bachelor of Law (SH) from the Faculty of Law, University of Gajah Mada, Yogyakarta.

Halim Alamsyah continued his education until he earned a Master of Arts (MA) in Development Economics from Boston University, United States. He also won a Doctorate in Monetary Economics from the University of Indonesia.

Halim Alamsyah started his career at Bank Indonesia (BI) as a credit analyst staff in Cooperative Credit Affairs in 1982. After filling director positions in a number of directorates at BI, Halim was then appointed Deputy Governor of BI on June 1, 2010, with a term of office from June 17, 2010, to June 17, 2015.

On 18 July 2012, Halim was appointed as a Member of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners (ex officio BI) for a term of office from July 18, 2012 to July 18, 2015.

Not only that, but the president also appointed Halim to fill the position of member and chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners on September 24, 2015, through Presidential Decree number 158/M/2015 dated September 21, 2015. Five years later, on September 24, 2020, Halim ended his term of office. as LPS boss.
