PT PP Working On The Arrangement Of The Sacred Area Of Pura Agung Besakih In Bali, Megawati Presents Virtually

JAKARTA - The state-owned construction company PT PP (Persero) Tbk attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Arrangement of the Besakih Temple, located in Karangasem, Bali. The arrangement of the sacred area was marked by the groundbreaking procession which was held on Wednesday, August 18, at the construction site, Bali.

The event was also attended by Megawati Soekarnoputri as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Working Unit for the Development of the Pancasila Ideology virtually and attended directly by the Minister of Public Works & Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljana, Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster, President Director of PTPP Novel Arsyad, Director of Operations for PT PP Building Anton Satyo Hendriatmo, along with regional officials in Bali.

The island of Bali is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Indonesia which has an attraction identical to art, culture, and religion. One of the oldest cultural and worship centers in Bali, namely Pura Besakih, is often a destination for tourists from both domestic and foreign countries.

Besakih Temple is a place of worship for Hindus which is the largest temple on the island of Bali, located in Rendang District, Karangasem Regency. Besakih Temple is located approximately 52 kilometers from Denpasar city and can be reached by land for 1.5 hours. The area has a central temple or called Pura Penataran Agung Besakih surrounded by 18 companion temples.

In the construction of this project, PT PP was trusted as the implementing contractor by the Ministry of PUPR to work on the arrangement of the sacred area. The scope of work to be carried out by PTPP includes preparation, construction design, construction of the Manik Mas and Bencingah areas, and construction maintenance.

This area structuring project will be carried out with an implementation period of 515 calendar days with a maintenance period of 360 calendar days. The project, which started in August 2021, is optimistic that it will be completed according to the set target, which is December 2022.

The structuring of the Besakih Temple area is carried out by improving facilities and infrastructure which includes two areas, namely the Manik Mas Area, an increase in the capacity of the parking lot along the arrangement of supporting facilities and infrastructure.

In addition to these areas, the arrangement of buildings and utilities in the context of protecting the Pura Agung Besakih area will be carried out in the entrance area or the Bencingah Area. The project, which is valued at IDR 387 billion, is funded by the State Budget for the 2021-2022 Fiscal Year.

PTPP will carry out construction work in the Manik Mas Area, which consists of a five-story parking building and basement, 18 large kiosk units, 12 small kiosk units, bale pasandekan, anjung building, and access road facilities.

Meanwhile, in the Bencingah Area, PT PP will work on the construction of 196 units of large kiosks, 124 units of small kiosks, bale pasandekan, bale gong, as well as courtyards and children's play areas.

PT PP is optimistic that it will complete the project on time with the best quality. The temple area development program aims to bring order and protection to the Pura Agung Sacred Area Besakih. In addition, Besakih Temple is also a tourist attraction on the island of Bali which is visited by many tourists, so it needs to be arranged according to its function", said Novel Arsyad, President Director of PTPP.
