DKI Provincial Government Makes Vaccine Certificates Requirements To Enter The Market, Traders: Too Much, Socialize First!

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Market Traders Association (Ikappi) considers that the requirements for using a COVID-19 vaccine certificate to enter the market in Jakarta are too excessive. Moreover, this policy is still very poorly socialized in the field.

The Head of the Ikkapi Information and Communication Center Leadership Council, Muhammad Ainun Najib, regretted that the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta was in a hurry. In fact, many shop owners, employees, and customers are not aware of this regulation.

"Ikappi Council regrets that the DKI Provincial Government has been in a hurry to suggest that to enter the market, you must use a vaccine card. This feels too much", he said, in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 10.

Therefore, Ainun asked the provincial government to intensify the socialization of this rule first. After it is felt massive, then this regulation can be applied simultaneously.

Ainun said that based on the facts on the ground, there is still a need for socialization and education for market traders about vaccines and how important herd immunity is in traditional markets.

"Access to vaccination is very minimal and not comprehensive in traditional markets in DKI Jakarta. DKI has 154 traditional markets under the auspices of Perumda Jaya. Pasar Jaya and according to our records, only a few markets have been vaccinated", he said.

In addition, said Ainun, this policy will also create crowds in the market. Because when customers enter, there will be a queue for checking the vaccine card.

Moreover, according to Ainun, there are not too many security or market officers. In the end, it will take a long time for each customer to enter the market.

"We can see that each market has limited human resources, security guards at each market door are limited. In the morning, if traders and buyers flock to the market, they must show vaccine cards. It takes quite a long time and will cause a crowd at the market entrance", he said.

However, said Ainun, crowds can be anticipated if the DKI Jakarta provincial government prepares technology that makes it easier to screen the vaccine card.

"We hope that for the time being the policy will not be carried out in traditional markets in DKI Jakarta. So that we can improve and evaluate together", he said.
