Labor Begins To Boycott Of Conglomerate Anthony Salim's Indomaret Today May 27, Starting From North Jakarta

JAKARTA - Workers in the country will start a boycott campaign for retailers owned by Anthony Salim conglomerate, Indomaret. The Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) also supported the decision of the Federation of Indonesian Trade Unions (FSPMI) regarding the planned boycott of Indomaret managed by PT Indomarco Prismatama.

"Indomaret boycott campaign began with action on Thursday, May 27, 2021, in front of PT Indo Marco Prismatama company in North Jakarta," said KSPI President, Said Iqbal, in a statement quoted on Thursday, May 27.

Iqbal said, if the next day Anwar Bessy is not released then the campaign to boycott Indomaret throughout Indonesia will be conducted. Anwar Bessy is an Indomaret worker who was policed because of the THR 2020 demo case.

The activities carried out in this boycott campaign, one of which is by spreading banners and posters in hundreds of Indomaret stores. The banner reads "boycott Indomaret products and do not shop there".

This, Iqbal said, is a form of solidarity, because the retail company is suspected of criminalizing its workers and not paying workers' rights in accordance with applicable company regulations.

"We will rally the solidarity of workers from other companies to take action in Indomaret stores," he explained.

In addition, there will also be instructions so that KSPI and FSPMI members do not shop at all Indomaret stores in Indonesia. This was done when Anwar Bessy was not released and labor rights were not granted.

Then they will conduct an international campaign at the ILO session in June 2021. His friend Indomaret as the largest retail company in Indonesia ignored workers' rights and criminalized his workers.

Afterward, they also took action in a number of government agencies to free Anwar Bessy. In addition, KSPI and FSPMI will take other steps that are decided later.

"All of the above activities will be carried out by KSPI and FSPMI by following the prevailing laws and regulations and health protocol standards in accordance with the direction of the COVID-19 Task Force," he said.

PT Indomarco Prismatama itself has responded to the threat of boycott. According to Indomaret management, the beginning of this polemic because there is a dispute THR 2020 case then leads to a criminal law case of one of its workers.

Management said, about THR, all employees have earned their rights. His company also has not been in arrears for 30 years.

The Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) stated that Indomaret does not violate the provisions of payment of holiday allowances (THR) aliases in accordance with the rules. This was revealed based on the examination of the Ministry of Manpower supervisors.

From the findings, the company paid THR 2020 a one-time wage to all workers. The provision refers to a company memo considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The amount of religious THR is stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2016 concerning Religious THR for Workers or Workers in the Company, namely article 3 paragraph 1.

For workers who have a working period of 12 months continuously or more given THR amount of one-month wages. Meanwhile, for workers who have a working period of one month, but less than 12 months, THR is given proportionally. Thus, the company has complied with these conditions.
