Prabowo Asks KAI President Director To Add 30 KRL Series In 1 Year

President Prabowo Subianto asked the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Bobby Rasyidin to procure 30 new train series or trainsets within the next one year.

This was conveyed by Prabowo when inaugurating Tanah Abang Station, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Tuesday, November 4.

"How many months can it take, Director of KAI? How many? This is heard. Six months? We have given it, I (give) 1 year. Later he will be stressed and can't sleep, right? If you can get six months, okay. But 1 year must. This is the people who are witnesses, right? So there will be an additional 30 new series," he said.

Prabowo said the government had also approved the provision of funds of IDR 5 trillion to expand the capacity of the train, including the procurement of a new train series for the Jabodetabek train service.

"He (Director of KAI) proposed a total of IDR 4.8 trillion, I agreed. No, not IDR 4.8 trillion, I agree with IDR 5 trillion. For many people, I don't hesitate. Our money is saving for the benefit of the people above all interests," he said.

On that occasion, Prabowo also admitted that he had tried a new train series. The electric train (KRL) that Prabowo tested from Manggarai Station to Tanah Abang was the CLI-125 made in China.

"I tried earlier, clean, comfortable, air conditioner. I often go abroad, but our train is not inferior to trains anywhere," he said.

For your information, PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter has operated 11 new KRL facilities imported from China to serve Jabodetabek Commuter Line users.

The President Director of KAI Commuter, Asdo Artriviyanto, said that this latest series of KRLs is a modernization of railway facilities that have the latest technology called CLI-125 which is expected to meet the increasing needs of user services.

Initially, said Asdo, KAI Commuter operated 2 series of new KRL facilities, each consisting of 12 trains (SF12) on June 1, 2025 on the Bogor route and 1 series on the Cikarang route.

Furthermore, said Asdo, KAI Commuter gradually operates as many as 2 series on June 11, 2025, July 25, 2025, August 22, 2025, and September 26, 2025. All of them operate after passing certification from the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), Ministry of Transportation.

Currently, Asdo said, the operation of this new KRL facility for Commuter Line Bogor services is four series and the Commuter Line Cikarang is seven series.

"All of the operation of this new KRL facility is a replacement for the operation of old KRL facilities that have entered retirement or have expired," Asdo said in an official statement Wednesday, October 15.
