JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), part of Pertamina's Gas Subholding, marks the first step in the project to provide oil fuel pipeline services (BBM) for the Cikampek-Plumpang section through the initial shipment of pipes in collaboration with PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk.

"This collaboration is a form of synergy between SOEs and its subsidiaries in strengthening pipeline infrastructure for national energy security," said Pertamina Gas President Director Indra P Sembiring, in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 16.

Through this collaboration, Pertagas will receive a steel pipeline supply for the project to provide 96 km of Cikampek-Plumpang fuel pipeline services.

Pipes will be supplied through one of the subsidiaries of Krakatau Steel, which is engaged in steel pipe manufacturing and anti-corrosion coating services, namely PT Krakatau Pipe Industries (Krakkatau Pipe).

The steel pipe produced by Krakatau Pipe uses the ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) type with a diameter of 16 inch API grade 5L X65 PSL 2 which is coated with 3 polyethylene layers and will be supplied to Pertagas.

Indra said that Pertagas' cooperation with Krakatau Steel in providing steel pipes is clear evidence of the company's commitment to the use of domestic products produced by PT Krakatau Pipe Industries.

"As part of the Pertamina Group, Pertagas supports the efforts of the parent company to optimize domestic components in the SOE project in order to encourage national industrial and economic growth through increasing the level of domestic components," said Indra.

According to him, the construction of a 96 km fuel pipe that connects the Cikampek Terminal to Plumpang Terminal is a synergy between Pertamina Group, which Pertamina Patra Niaga as the project owner and Pertagas as a contractor.

The fuel pipe is explained to be part of the main distribution network from the Balongan Refinery to Plumpang, which distributes around 4.6 million kiloliters of fuel per year.

This infrastructure is vital to ensure the reliability of fuel supply to West Java and Jakarta, which absorbs about 30 percent of national consumption.

Furthermore, Indra revealed that the Cikampek-Plumpang fuel pipeline will have a strategic impact in supporting security of supply and strengthening the distribution of fuel from the Balongan Refinery to Plumpang.

"The synergy between VAT and Pertagas in the construction of the fuel pipeline will also support the reliability of supply in the West Java region," he added.

Pertamina Gas Corporate Secretary Sulthani Adil Mangatar added that Pertagas has transformed into an energy company that is not only focused on distributing gas and LNG, but also developing energy distribution infrastructure.

He emphasized that his party has experience in a number of strategic projects, including the construction of the 79.92 km Seinpah-Balikpapan natural gas pipeline which supports the efficiency of Balikpapan Refinery operations and domestic energy security.

"As well as the 342 km Rokan Block oil pipeline which stretches from Minas, Balam, Duri to Dumai, as one of the largest national petroleum production areas," said Sulthani.

This contribution, continued Sulthani, is in line with the government's program in achieving national energy independence so that it can support equitable distribution and sustainable national economic growth.
