Super Air Jet Becomes The New Airline In The Last 10 Years, Observer: It Deserves To Be Appreciated Especially The Pandemic Is Still Going On

JAKARTA - Aviation observer Alvin Lie appreciates the courage of the new airline Super Air Jet candidate who plans to conduct its first operational activities in the near future.

According to him, this step is at the same time breaking the oblique stigma that is currently in the aviation industry due to business pressures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The new Super Air Jet I think is extraordinary. This is the first new airline in the last 10 years in Indonesia and (the launch plan) is in the midst of a pandemic”, he told VOI, Tuesday, May 4.

Alvin added that the presence of a new player who took the low-cost carrier (LCC) segment could not be separated from the foresight of Super Air Jet management in seeing opportunities when the pressure came.

"This shows the foresight of entrepreneurs, to buy or procure aircraft at very cheap prices", he said.

He revealed that currently there is a vacuum in demand for aircraft due to a large number of airlines rescheduling their used fleets.

"Due to the pandemic, many airlines have returned planes. There are quite a lot of them who cannot continue the contract that has been agreed upon, or some are even unable to pay the rent”, he explained.

According to Alvin, this condition is what Super Air Jet is aware of to be able to procure operational fleets.

“Aircraft leasing companies also need to find new tenants or buyers. This is what Super Air Jet uses to build aircraft, of course, at a very attractive price”, he said.

In previous VOI reports, it was stated that the former General Manager of Lion Air Group Ari Azhari was reportedly initiating the formation of the Super Air Jet airline which is targeting the millennial generation market share.

Meanwhile, this market segmentation was chosen because young people are known to be obsessed with technology and have a tendency to travel. However, it is not certain what kind of engagement the Super Air Jet will have with the Lion Air Group.

"Super Air Jet was founded on the basis of optimism that market opportunities, especially domestic flights in Indonesia, still exist and are wide open. We see that there is a very strong demand from the public for air travel nowadays, especially from millennials”, said Ari Azhari as quoted on Monday, May 3.

Super Air Jet itself is now in the process of obtaining flight permits from the relevant authorities, especially the Ministry of Transportation.
