Mall Managers Suggest Store Owners To Be Innovative In Pandemic Times: So That Loyal Customers Return To Shopping

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Indonesian Shopping Center Tenants Association (Hippindo) Haryanto Pratantara suggested that shop owners need to innovate to make it easier for customers during a pandemic.

"The consumers will be dominated by generation Z. They will prefer to be more practical, easy, simple, and fast. Providing many choices and pleasant experiences", said Haryanto as quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 29.

For that, he continued, every store needs to innovate to make it easier for loyal customers to continue shopping again or leave an impression when making transactions.

The Secretary-General of Hippindo realizes that the conditions in the midst of the corona pandemic are making everything difficult. Plus tenant rental fees in malls soared.

"The cost increases from time to time. How to get around when doing efficiently. This is also a challenge for tips and tricks for each retailer", said Haryanto.

Meanwhile, Property Management Practitioner-Member of the GMT Institute, Asj'ari Bali, stated that his party continues to strive to create patterns that are not burdensome to tenants. Thus the mall service performance remains excellent.

"As a mall manager, of course, we have to adjust the operational cost bill to tenants. Communicating with tenants, we are also looking for the best formula", said Asj'ari.

The pattern of adjusting the operational part to tenants also has consequences. If his party provides a large discount, of course, tenants can adjust the cost structure during the pandemic.

"Formless receivables, if you choose option one there is no problem", he said.

Meanwhile, there are other options, namely if the discount given is not large, there is a risk that the tenant cannot pay in full.

"This is what the manager does not expect. But we still have a limitation that the mall must be operated at a sufficient price. It needs a strategy, control, leadership towards this cost structure. So that we can find the best solution", said Asj'ari.
