There Is A Ban On Going Home, Kualanamu Airport Has Not Cut Flight Frequency

JAKARTA - The Kualanamu International Airport Authority in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, admitted that until now the airline had not cut flight frequency during the period of eliminating the Eid homecoming on May 6-17, 2021.

"So far, no 'airlines' have written to us regarding the reduction in flight frequency," explained Acting Manager of Branch Communication and Legal of Kualanamu International Airport, Paulina Simbolon in Medan, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, April 27.

At least, he continued, there are 25 domestic routes served at Kualanamu Airport, such as Soekarno Hatta in Jakarta, Hang Nadim in Batam, and Juanda in Surabaya. The 25 domestic routes use operators, including Lion Air, Batik Air, Wings Air, Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and Sriwijaya Air.

"The average arrival and departure flights in Kualanamu for April are around 80 to 90 per day," said Paulina.

The Kualanamu International Airport Flight Operators Committee (AOC) said the air transportation sector was hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and has not yet recovered until now.

"Especially at this time, it has started to tighten. So maybe there will be a lot of cancellations, because there are no passengers," said the Chairman of AOC Kualanamu International Airport, Rahmat Iskandar.
