Budget For Roads And Bridge Repairs Does Not Exist, Minister Of Public Works: We Are Still Reviewing

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) received a budget of IDR 29.57 trillion this year.

This is the impact of the existence of budget efficiency of Rp. 81.38 trillion.

With this lack of budget, the Ministry of Public Works is also known not to allocate a budget for road and bridge preservation activities this year.

In fact, the Eid al-Fitr 2025 holiday is only about one month away, which usually the Ministry of Public Works takes road precautions to support smooth traffic at that momentum.

When met after attending a working meeting (Raker) with Commission V of the DPR RI, Dody said, his party would always make road repairs.

However, he said, currently the Ministry of Public Works budget is still in the review stage.

"The improvement is always (we are working on it) even though our budget is still being reviewed," Dody told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12.

Dody explained that recently his party had also repaired roads in the Pekalongan area, Central Java, which were damaged by landslides.

"So, yes, these PU friends have extraordinary trust," he said.

According to him, the Ministry of Public Works has not been able to allocate a budget for road repair and bridge preservation activities due to budget efficiency as stated in Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025.

However, continued Dody, his party will definitely think about it carefully. "Because of that, right, we refer to the Presidential Instruction. Calm down, we will definitely think about it," said Dody.

On the same occasion, Deputy Minister (Wamen) of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti said that her party had not been able to allocate the budget for road repair activities because the figures were still being calculated.

"That, right, is still being exercised. I haven't dared to know the numbers yet, but what is clear is our concern," he concluded.
