JAKARTA - The Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) DKI Jakarta Kadarmanto guarantees the confidentiality of data provided by business actors in the 2026 Economic Census, which is the fifth implementation since 1986.
"I guarantee that the data that will be provided will be guaranteed confidentiality, because BPS is in accordance with Law Number 16 of 1997, it must be maintained (data confidentiality)," said Kadarmanto at an event monitored in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Census officers, he added, had been trained before conducting data collection. The training includes data collection ethics and surrounding things that will be asked to the public.
He said that what was recorded in the Economic Census included all businesses and families, so that the government had a complete picture of the business and socio-economic conditions of the community.
"What is covered includes various businesses from micro, small, medium, to large, there are stalls, shops, workshops, MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises), to large companies. Those in malls, then those in offices, in office centers. This is all part of the economic picture," said Kadarmanto.
For business actors, the data collection activity will be beneficial for the development of their business because the data provided can help the government in formulating policies that support the business world, for example, infrastructure or programs that are needed.
For the community, when the business world develops, it will increase employment opportunities, market information will become clearer, and the regional economy will also grow.
"Participation in the census is very important to produce accurate and useful data for national development, especially in the economic sector, because this data once every 10 years is what the government really needs," said Kadarmanto.
Data from the Economic Census, he said, also supports Jakarta as a global city.
Meanwhile, the data collection process is carried out from June 15 to August 31, 2026 by BPS nationwide.
