JAKARTA - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) expressed that global uncertainty is currently being triggered by the United States trade tariff policy which is exacerbating the market situation.
IDX Development Director Jeffrey Hendrik conveyed that the United States trade rate policy towards China and the dynamics of the economy with other countries such as Canada and Mexico are the main factors that trigger global uncertainty conditions.
"The policies that have been announced but have been postponed have created greater uncertainty for the global market," he said, Thursday, February 6.
According to him, the impact of this policy is not only felt in big countries, but also affects economic stability in Indonesia, especially in the exchange rate of currency, trade policy, and global supply chain.
Jeffrey conveyed that this change in the economic constellation poses a challenge for business people in Indonesia. With this uncertainty, investors must be more careful in making investment decisions.
"Especially in dealing with the possibility of greater fluctuations in the domestic financial market," he explained.
Therefore, Jeffrey said the IDX was preparing to launch several new financial instruments designed to help investors deal with uncertain market conditions.
One of the products that will soon be introduced is short selling and intraday short selling (IDSS) in the Indonesian capital market.
Jeffrey said that this product is expected to provide more strategy options for investors, especially when the market experiences high fluctuations in a short time.

According to him, with this new strategy, investors are expected to be more optimal in managing their portfolio in the midst of dynamic and challenging market conditions.
