JAKARTA - Perum Bulog emphasized that it only buys unhulled rice according to the standards set by the government with a government purchase price (HPP) of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram (kg).
The HHP of the unhulled rice is a new purchase price that will take effect from January 15. The previously valid HPP of unhulled rice is IDR 6,000 per kg.
Bulog Corporate Secretary Arwakhudin explained that the standard is in accordance with the rules stated in the Decree of the Head of the National Food Agency Number 2 of 2025.
Referring to the regulation, said Arwakhudin, Bulog is required to absorb harvested dry unhulled rice with a maximum level of 25 percent and a maximum vacuum level of 10 percent.
"So when the water level is above 25 percent, the price is not (referring to HPP) IDR 6,500 per kg, (but) according to the set price structure," he said in Jakarta, Friday, January 17.
Arwakhudin also denied that Bulog had made it difficult to purchase or procure grain from farmers. He emphasized that all farmers' yields will still be absorbed by Bulog but the price will adjust the quality of the grain.
"Our current task is the price according to the requirements. There is no intention of making it difficult to procure grain for farmers to enter the government's rice reserves," he explained.
Arwakhudin said that the absorption of rice at this year's harvest will be divided into three types, namely harvested dry unhulled rice (GKP), milling dry unhulled rice (GKG), and rice.
The distribution of this type of absorption, continued Arwakhudin, was carried out because each type of commodity had different needs. He said, rice was absorbed directly to be distributed in the form of food assistance and SPHP.
Meanwhile, the milled dry grain is absorbed because it can be stored longer before it is processed into rice. Meanwhile, this dry harvest grain is absorbed directly from farmers to provide benefits to farmers.
"That's why we provide commodities in our warehouse in three forms. So there are those that need to be processed quickly and some touch the farmers," he said.
After the absorption, Arwakhudin said that his party hoped that an assignment was given by the government to Bulog so that the absorbed rice could be distributed.
"Our hope is that there is actually distribution of food aid. So there is a reduction in stock in warehouses, so new ones can be entered," he said.
