Sri Mulyani Warns That Corruption Prevention Should Not Just Be A Slogan

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani reminded that the prevention of corruption should not just be a slogan. Prevention of corruption requires synergy from the community and must be done appropriately, especially in the economic and financial sectors.

Furthermore, Sri Mulyani said the prevention of corruption with a credible and accountable system will improve the dignity of the country, state revenues and make its society more prosperous.

"Therefore, various efforts to prevent corruption should not only be a slogan of corruption prevention requires synergy from all stakeholders and all levels of society", she said at the Launch of National Corruption Prevention Strategy (Stranas PK) 2021-2022 Corruption Prevention Action, Tuesday, April 13.

In the process of national economic recovery in the midst of the pandemic, Sri Mulyani admitted, the risk of abuse and potential criminal acts or fraud must exist. For example, actions such as the use of fictitious data, duplication of data from social assistance recipients, and other fields can be misused.

"This is a risk that we must monitor and minimize. Therefore, the synergy conducted by the government, the Ministry of Finance, and all ministries of institutions along with all legal officials including the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) becomes very important", she explained.

Indonesia, said Sri Mulyani, still faces extraordinary conditions. Those who commit crimes at this time are categorized as committing extraordinary crimes, so the handling must also be extraordinary.

"Not only strict enforcement of law enforcement but also must be given education and communication because governance and integrity are important foundations", she said.

The country's treasurer said the Ministry of Finance continues to strengthen the prevention of corruption through regulatory and policy improvements. One of them, the integrity of import quotas by utilizing importation data in order to optimize state revenue and importation activities.

"We will continue to strengthen the empowering of internal supervisory apparatus in each institution", she said.
