Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi said that 10 kilograms (kg) of rice food assistance to underprivileged communities continued in 2025 after President Prabowo Subianto approved the policy.
"I want to convey the good news, in a limited meeting with the President (Prabowo Subianto), he has agreed to January and February (2025) there will be more (10 kg of rice assistance)," said Arief on the sidelines of attending the delivery of 10 kg of rice aid to the beneficiary community in Kebon Blank Village, Kebayoran, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, December 6.
He said that in 2024, this rice aid program has targeted 22 million beneficiary families (KPM) throughout Indonesia. However, there is an adjustment in the number of recipients for 2025, where the amount will decrease to 16 million KPM. But the aid rice quota is still 10 kg per beneficiary.
There is an adjustment in the number of food aid recipients to 16 million for 2025 because there are several justifications.
The first factor is due to a decrease in the percentage of poor people. According to BPS, the number of poor people in March 2024 was 25.22 million people. This decreased by 0.68 million people to March 2023 and decreased by 1.14 million people to September 2022.
Furthermore, in order to realize a program that is more targeted, it is necessary to use 1 and 2 decile data plus single-elderly and poor KK (Head of Family) women. The amount of data in P3KE (Security for the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty) is 14 million.
This adjustment is made with a focus on families who are in decile 1 and decile 2 or who need assistance the most. This step aims to make aid more targeted.
"Yes (there is an adjustment), so because we will later refocusing in decile 1 and decile 2. So, (it will be distributed to) the most needed," he said.
In addition, there are also other programs that are widely targeted at the community in 2025, such as Free Nutrition Food (MBG).
Furthermore, Arief also expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati for her budget support, even though the fiscal situation was tight.

"We thank the Minister of Finance. Why? Because in the midst of today's physical arrangements, there is still food assistance for people who need it," he said.
He hopes that the rice food assistance can ease the burden on the community, especially in meeting basic needs.
Currently, the distribution of phase three rice aid, namely December 2024, is still ongoing in several areas and is targeted to be completed before the end of the year.
