Minister Maruarar Sirait Asks For Additional Housing Budget Of IDR 48.4 Trillion

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait together with Deputy Minister of PKP Fahri Hamzah conveyed a number of proposals for programs and budget needs of the Ministry of PKP in 2025 to the Ministry of Finance.

There are at least a number of housing program that will be implemented as well as proposed funding needs to support the 3 Million Houses Program for the community.

"We expect support and input from the Ministry of Finance regarding the proposed program and budget needs of the Ministry of PKP," said PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait during a coordination meeting with Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara at the Ministry of Ministries Office quoted on Saturday, November 16.

On that occasion, the Minister of PKP stated that he also asked the Ministry of Finance to send competent employees and officials to help and hold positions at the Ministry of PKP.

This is done so that the implementation of the planned housing program can be well coordinated and get supervisory support from the Ministry of Finance.

In addition, the Minister of PKP also conveyed the organizational structure of the Ministry of PKP and a number of HR needs that will serve in a number of existing work units.

"Currently, the total available budget for 2025 is only IDR 5.1 trillion. Meanwhile, based on the proposal of the Housing Task Force for the need for housing development funds of IDR 53.6 trillion, so there is an additional budget requirement of around IDR 48.4 trillion. We hope for the support of the Ministry of Finance in budgeting the Ministry of PKP," said Ara.

Ara added that the Ministry of PKP will also encourage housing financing schemes that are easily accessible to the public.

In this case, coordination with a number of housing subsidy distribution banks will also continue to be increased so that the target and number of subsidized houses can be higher than in previous years.

The Ministry of PKP, according to him, has also planned to increase the target and change the proportion of housing financing support. This is necessary so that housing financing does not always rely on the APBN budget but also from banking funding.

"We are targeting subsidized houses from the previous 220,000 to 800,000. In addition, it also encourages FLPP and SBUM mortgage funding as well as changes in the proportion of the APBN and Bank which were previously 75: 50 to 50: 50 so that they will reach more people to access subsidized houses," said Ara.

Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara stated that his party is ready to provide support for various pro-people housing programs such as 3 million houses. This is necessary because the property sector can open investment faucets as well as encourage the running of the industrial sector and create jobs for the wider community.

"We provide support for the PKP Ministry Program. However, we will coordinate further regarding the necessary budget needs," said Suahasil.
