Prabowo Doesn't Discuss IKN In His First Speech, AHY: Development Focuses On Legislative And Judicial Buildings

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) opened his voice regarding the sustainability of the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in the era of President Prabowo Subianto's leadership.

Prabowo delivered a state speech after the inauguration at the Kura-kura Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, October 20.

He discussed various issues in the speech which lasted almost 30 minutes. He discussed ranging from poverty, corruption, food self-sufficiency, energy to subsidies. However, in the speech, Prabowo did not mention the development of IKN.

AHY said IKN development would continue. However, taking into account the timeline for the construction of the mega project which is quite long.

"We also know that IKN is a big project and various efforts need to be made so that it can continue and Mr. President Prabowo also certainly wants to be able to continue the development of this IKN, of course with a timeline that must continue to be adjusted," AHY told reporters at the PUPR Ministry office, Wednesday, October 23.

He considered that not only the IKN project received attention, but also other strategic projects. Moreover, said AHY, President Prabowo Subianto has a vision to strengthen food self-sufficiency to energy.

"So, of course there must be adjustments that can be done and this requires input from all parties and stakeholders," he said.

Even so, AHY said that the construction of IKN in the Prabowo era would be prioritized for the construction of legislative and judicial buildings.

Bearing in mind, he continued, the construction of the executive building at IKN itself has been carried out in the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s leadership with the progress of phase I development of almost 90 percent.

"Besides the executive, of course, is the legislature. So, the parliament building must also be ready, including for judicial institutions. This is at least what I hear directly from his direction in the future," said Agus.

"Prioritize it first before it is developed or expanded for other functions, government and other business functions," he continued.

However, when asked further when President Prabowo would visit IKN, AHY did not know. "I don't know yet," he added.
