Bahlil Lahadalia Reveals His 100 Work Day Target After Being Inaugurated As Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Bahlil Lahadalia as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

Bahlil again held the position of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in the Prabowo-Gibran Red and White Cabinet.

During the leadership period of the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Bahlil replaced the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif in August 2024.

Bahlil targets that by 100 days his tenure in the Red and White Cabinet will improve licensing in the chaotic oil and gas (oil and gas) sector.

"My 100-day target is to improve the overlapping regulations," Bahlil told the media at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Monday, October 21.

Licensing in the oil and gas (oil and gas) sector, Cooperation Contractors (KKKS) are required to take care of approximately 129 permits before carrying out exploration activities.

"There are 129 if I'm not mistaken. Actually, this permit is good. However, our SLA (Service Level Agreement) is lacking in speed. Well, I'm still looking for a reason," continued Bahlil.

To achieve this target, he ensures that he will immediately follow up on efforts to boost oil and gas lifting by mapping out oil and gas potentials in the country as well as wells that can be optimized.

"We are talking about which potentials we can increase lifting with SKK Migas, which wells we can optimize or which wells we can't, intervene in technology, then explore, that's what we want," he explained.

Not only from the oil and gas sector, Bahlil also has a target in the field of minerals and coal, namely improving the overlapping rules at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Bahlil said that the unclear regulation was the source of the number of ESDM Ministry officials at the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (Minerba) stumbling over cases of governance and corruption.

"The previous official, especially at the Director General of Mineral and Coal, was also affected by the regulation issue that was too jeribet. Well, we will make improvements so as not to take officials hostage, but also not to torture or prevent employers from accelerating," said Bahlil.
