JAKARTA - The government has decided that the electricity tariff of PT PLN (Persero) for the third quarter of 2026 or the July-September period will not increase. This policy applies to both non-subsidized and subsidized customers.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said the decision was taken to maintain people's purchasing power, business certainty, and national economic stability amid global pressure.

"In order to maintain people's purchasing power and support national economic stability, the government has decided that the electricity tariff for the third quarter of 2026 will remain the same or not increase," Bahlil said in a written statement, Friday (3/7).

According to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 7 of 2024, the adjustment of electricity tariffs for 13 non-subsidized customer groups should be evaluated every three months. The calculation refers to four macroeconomic economic parameters, namely the rupiah exchange rate, the Indonesian crude price (ICP), inflation, and the reference coal price.

For the third quarter of 2026, the parameters used are derived from the realization of February-April 2026. The exchange rate was recorded at Rp16,959.32 per US dollar, ICP US$96.12 per barrel, inflation 0.21 percent, and reference coal price of US$70 per ton according to the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) coal policy.

Although the formula opens up room for changes in tariffs, the government chose to hold back electricity tariffs so as not to add to the burden of the community and the business world.

Bahlil said the fixed tariff policy also applies to 24 subsidized customer groups, ranging from social customers, poor households, small businesses, small industries, to micro, small, and medium business actors (MSMEs).

"The government is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and equitable electricity. This fixed tariff policy is part of efforts to maintain economic stability while ensuring that electricity services remain sustainable," said Bahlil.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that PLN was ready to implement the government's decision. According to him, PLN will continue to maintain the reliability of supply and service quality so that the tariff policy does not really feel by the community.

"We appreciate the government's steps to maintain the stability of electricity tariffs in the third quarter of 2026 and are ready to implement this policy," said Darmawan.

He said PLN would continue to maintain electricity supply to remain reliable and support domestic economic activities.

Details of the electricity tariff for the third quarter of 2026, July-September, can be accessed through the PLN official website.
