JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal highlighted the implementation of the eight percent commission policy for online two-wheeled passenger (ojol) service applications that has been in effect since July 1, 2026.
Starting July 1, 2026, ride-hailing companies or applicators will impose a new revenue-sharing scheme for two-wheeled passenger ojol services, where driver partners will receive 92 percent of the basic travel rate, while the remaining eight percent is a commission for the app.
"We have declared what the government's commitment is, Mr. President, including the entrepreneurs from the app, that as of July 1, 8 percent of the cut has been implemented for the app and 92 percent has been obtained by the drivers," he said, quoting Antara.
According to him, the new revenue sharing scheme has the potential to benefit customers or consumers.
Regarding the income of ojol drivers which is felt to have not increased, he stated that from his monitoring it was revealed that the app lowered the tariff so that customers or the public who use the two-wheeled passenger ojol service benefited from this new scheme.
"The income is because the driver lowers the tariff, so that the income to the driver decreases but there are those who benefit, namely customers or consumers, the public who use the services of drivers from online," he said.
Cucun ensured that the government through the Ministry of Transportation would regulate the eight percent commission policy technically. Commission V of the DPR RI will also be involved in overseeing the implementation of this policy.
"Of course, the Ministry of Transportation will make a more detailed technical regulation. Later, the relevant commission, especially Commission V, will follow up so that there is no misunderstanding," he said.
It is known that the ojol app has implemented a new revenue sharing scheme since July 1, 2026, but ojol drivers say the increase in income has not been too noticeable on the first day of implementation.
Meanwhile, a number of customers said there was no significant change in the price paid after the implementation of the eight percent commission.
One of the two-wheeled passenger ojol service customers, Alya said there was no change in the price he had experienced since the eight percent commission policy was implemented.
"From the beginning I went to work, for the tariff there is no price increase, so the tariff is normal," said the female worker.
