JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) has disbanded 82,000 cooperatives during 2014-2019.
Deputy for Cooperatives of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Ahmad Zabadi said, in 2014 there were 209,000 active cooperatives recorded.
"Today there are 130,119 cooperative units. This means that in terms of the number of entities, there has been a decline because in the 2014-2019 period we have disbanded 82,000 cooperatives," said Ahmad Zabadi at a press conference at his office, Thursday, October 10.
After the disbandment, the number of active cooperatives until 2019 was only 127,000. Then there was an increase in the number of cooperatives until 2024 to reach 130,119.
"We have disbanded those who are not active in 2019-2024, so the number of cooperatives is 127,000. Today there are only 130,000. This means that the number of cooperatives in the last five years has increased," he said.
