JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements has completed the construction of seven cross-border posts (PLBN) spread across various border areas throughout Indonesia.
The construction of the PLBN is based on the Instruction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Inpres) Number 1 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of Development of 11 Integrated PLBN and Supporting Infrastructure Facilities in Border Areas.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the development of PLBN was not only the pride of Indonesia as a great nation, but most importantly the function of security defense and as well as the embryo of a new economic growth center in the border area.
"The development of PLBN is not only an entry gate, but is an embryo in the center of regional economic growth that can improve the welfare of the border community," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Wednesday, September 18.
In order to maintain state sovereignty, reduce disparities, as well as equalize infrastructure development in border areas, the Ministry of PUPR has completed the construction of seven PLBNs.
Director General of Human Settlements Diana Kusumastuti said seven PLBNs that had been completed in the 2019-2024 period, namely PLBN Serasan in Natuna Regency, Riau Islands; PLBN Jagoi Babang in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan Province; PLBN Sei Mosquito in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan Province; PLBN Napan in North Central Timor Regency, NTT Province; PLBN Yettkun in Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua Province; PLBN Labang in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan Province; and PLBN Long Nawang in Malinau Regency, North Kalimantan Province.
"A total of five PLBNs have been operating and have been supported by cross-border services by immigration, customs and excise, health quarantine, agricultural quarantine and fish quarantine. Meanwhile, two other PLBNs, namely PLBN Labang and PLBN Long Nawang in North Kalimantan, have been completed and are in the early stages of operation," Diana said.
Meanwhile, one PLBN which is included in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2019, namely PLBN Sota in Merauke Regency, South Papua, has been operating and inaugurated by President Jokowi in October 2021.
Meanwhile, three other PLBNs, namely PLBN Sei Kelik in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province; PLBN Long Midang in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan Province; and PLBN Oepoli in Kupang Regency, NTT Province is in the process of being completed.
PLBN development is carried out through the Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) in each province that has a border area. The amount of budget allocated for the construction of five PLBNs that have been operating is IDR873.05 billion.
The details include PLBN Serasan in the Riau Islands amounting to Rp145.7 billion; PLBN Jagoi Babang in West Kalimantan amounting to Rp209.14 billion; PLBN Sei Mosquito in North Kalimantan amounting to Rp248.5 billion; PLBN Napan in NTT amounting to Rp106.24 billion; and PLBN Yettkun in South Papua amounting to Rp127.4 billion.
Meanwhile, the budget allocated for the construction of PLBN Labang in North Kalimantan is IDR 210.78 billion and for PLBN Long Nawang in North Kalimantan it is IDR 243.63 billion.
