JAKARTA - The election for the general chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has begun to warm up in line with the end of Rosan Perkasa Roeslani's tenure. The election for the chairman of Kadin will be held at the Kadin National Conference in May or June 2021.

There are two names appearing on the candidate exchange for Kadin Chairman. Apart from the President Director of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk, Anindya Bakrie, there is also the name of the President Director of Indika Energy Arsjad Rasjid. Arsjad, Friday, 26 March. He declared himself to go forward in the contest to replace the previous chairman, Rosan P. Roeslani.

"In the name of God, I am Arsjad Rasjid with the prayers and support of you all, hereby declare my readiness and determination to run for chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the 2021-2026 period", said Arsjad in Senayan, South Jakarta.

In this declaration, Arsjad is committed to helping the business world and supporting the government in economic recovery. According to Arsjad, currently Kadin needs to continue to push for equal distribution of economic stimulus and program development to areas in need.

Arsjad said there are four programs in advancing the economy through the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, namely health issues, national and regional economic recovery, entrepreneurship, and internal organizational improvements.

Arsjad said that almost all business sectors were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, it has decreased both large and medium enterprises to MSMEs. To revive all these business sectors, first the most important is the health factor, in this case, the handling of the virus must be completed first.

"Because if everything is healthy, the acceleration in improving the economy will be maximized. Then the economic recovery needs collaboration between the central and regional governments", he said.

In addition, Arsjad said that small, micro, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are the foundation of the Indonesian economy, so there is a need for development and empowerment, especially during a pandemic.

"I want to build Kadin to grow inclusively and collaboratively. Kadin as our common home. Our home to grow inclusively means we need to embrace every entrepreneur, large and small to remote parts of Indonesia", he said.

Arsjad said that Kadin is a place to collaborate, cooperate by strengthening the role of the private sector as the backbone of national economic recovery.

"The problems of entrepreneurs today are very dynamic, fast, and full of challenges, so it needs aggressiveness and innovation in providing solutions to every problem", he said.

Also present in this declaration were the Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadiala, the Chairperson of the 2015-2021 Kadin Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Chairman of the Advisory Council of Kadin MS Hidayat. The Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi, attended the video conference.

Arsjad Rasjid currently serves as the President Director of PT Indika Energy Tbk. Meanwhile, Indika Energy is a national integrated energy company owned by Agus Lasmono Sudwikatmono.

Previously, Arsjad served as President Director and Group CEO in 2016-2018 and 2005-2013, as well as Deputy President Director and Group CFO in 2013-2016.
