Viral Aircraft Fuel Tank At Soetta Bocor Airport, This Is Garuda Indonesia's Response

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk opened its voice about a video showing a leaking Garuda Indonesia aircraft tank on the runway of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, Tangerang, Banten, last Saturday.

The video stems from an Instagram upload belonging to musician Kunto Aji, who traveled by Garuda Indonesia. While the plane was walking slowly on the airport runway, suddenly the fuel of the avtur poured heavily on the wing of the plane.

Kunto Aji admitted that he was grateful that his life was still safe and the plane he was traveling in failed to fly.

"Astaghfirullah, my plane leaked like this, fortunately it was caught and didn't fly," wrote Kunto Aji on his Instagram account @kuntoajiw, Jakarta, Saturday.

Responding to this, Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra explained that the flight was the GA-174 Jakarta-Pekanbaru route with a scheduled departure from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 11.50 WIB.

After learning of these findings, which are also supported by a visual report from one of the passengers, by prioritizing the focus of safety and safety aspects, PIC immediately made a decision for the return to apron (RTA) aircraft to conduct a thorough inspection of the findings of indications of the spill or overflow of fuel.

"Currently, 135 GA-174 passengers have been flown back by PK-GMM replacement aircraft at 14.00 WIB and are scheduled to arrive at 15.45 WIB," he said.

The plane is scheduled to arrive at Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport at 13.35 WIB which flies using the PK-GFW fleet.

Irfan emphasized that the findings were known by the pilot in command (PIC) while carrying out routine procedures to verify the number of avtur contents inside the plane, as part of the final readiness of the flight crew before carrying out the take-off process.

"The procedure is part of the safety management manual before the plane takes off," said Irfan in an official statement, Jakarta, Sunday, August 25.
