Head Of Mining Forum Asks Bahlil To Complete Coal MIP

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesia Mining and Energy Forum, Singgih Widagdo, opened his voice regarding the appointment of Bahlil Lahadalia as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) replacing Arifin Tasrif.

Singgih said that the cabinet reshuffle was actually a political decision.

However, he highlighted what Bahlil had to do as minister for the next two months.

" Bahlil's election even though two months is a political decision. I don't want to be a technical reason but it is clear that the minister's job is to organize a government in the field of Energy and Resources to help the president. This is the most important thing to help this," he said in the Mining Zone, Tuesday, August 20.

Singgih said, as a minister who will only serve for two months, Bahlil should have a different task from the previous ESDM minister by mapping out short-term and tough-term tasks.

According to him, the most important thing is the direction of Bahlil's policy to overcome various problems in the ESDM sector, one of which is the implementation of coal channel levy schemes through Management Agency Partners (MIP).

"Bahlil lives for two months if he concentrates on oil, we will not be able to carry out the process so that MIP must be the main task," he said.

"While previously the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the 2019-2024 period Arifin Tasrif said that currently the progress of the formation of the Coal MIP is just waiting for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s approval and is inaugurated through a Presidential Regulation (Perpres)," said Arifin, quoted on Tuesday, August 20.
