Minister Basuki Regarding Presidential Decree On Moving The Capital City Has Not Been Signed By Jokowi: He Asked

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono was reluctant to comment much about President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who until now has not signed a Presidential Decree (Keppres) for the relocation of the capital city. Previously, Jokowi stated that he was still waiting for the readiness of the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) ecosystem, East Kalimantan.

"Yes, ask him," said Basuki at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, written Thursday, September 19.

Basuki only said that his ministry would speed up a number of projects. Apart from the airport, the Acting Head of the IKN Authority said infrastructure projects such as roads and water would be a priority for completion. "Because investment will enter when it is ready," he said.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi has not been able to confirm when the Presidential Decree on moving the capital city from Jakarta to IKN, East Kalimantan, can be signed.

Furthermore, Jokowi also reminded not to simplify the process of moving the capital city. He also likens moving houses to be complicated, let alone moving the capital city.

"Just move the house, right, we are really complicated. This is a moving capital city, don't make it easy," he said, Monday, August 12.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta said that the relocation of the capital city was not only an administrative matter, but also readiness in the field.

"We'll see, because it's not just about administration, it's not a matter of Presidential Decree. But, we also have to look at the process in the field," he said.

As additional information, IKN development is designed in five stages until 2045. This project allegedly requires a budget of up to IDR 466 trillion, allocated by the government from the state expenditure income budget (APBN) of 20 percent and non-APBN 80 percent.
