Shopping Discounts Start Applicable Today, Retail Entrepreneurs Hope To Boost Sales Of 5-10 Percent

The Indonesian Shopping Center Retailer & Tenants Association (Hippindo) officially provides a 79 percent discount on the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia today. The sale event is called the 2024 Indonesia Discount Shopping Day (HBD).

Chairman of Hippindo Budihardjo Iduansjah said this was one of his efforts to enliven domestic trade.

"So, from Hippindo, I am very grateful to all those who support the efforts of the retail sector or Hippindo to support efforts to enliven domestic trade," Budihardjo said in his remarks at the opening of the event of the Sevens of Indonesian HBD Sales in the Sarinah area, Jakarta, Saturday, August 17.

Budihardjo hopes that this sale event will be able to boost retail sales by 10 percent later.

"If 17 months 8 so far, sales have dropped. That's why we made this HBD. Including everything has almost become a habit now, it's 17 discounts. So, it's quite a stock or turnover income because of discounts. Maybe it can lift (sales) 5-10 percent from the usual months," he said.

He considered that HBD was also part of their latest program entitled 'Buyership in Indonesia Only'. Budihardjo claimed that the program had brought in buyers from abroad.

"Business in Indonesia alone is a new program. We have launched, brought in buyers or tourists to start coming to Indonesia and especially to Jakarta. This will be an important program because the retail sector must have traffic, there must be tourists," he explained.

Thus, Budihardjo hopes that the HBD event will also be able to bring in buyers from abroad, especially the Southeast Asia (ASEAN) region.

"Well, we hope that this Discount Shopping Day can start like inviting people. At least Asean comes first, as soon as he hears that HBD can shop for Indonesia, eat and culinary. This is what we hope for his support," he concluded.
