JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has stopped 22 cases of smuggling clear lobster seeds (BBL) or fry in 11 locations during the first semester of 2024.

The Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Pung Nugroho Saksono said that the loss that could be saved reached Rp277 billion.

"We managed to stop 22 BBL smugglings in 11 locations with losses that could be saved of approximately Rp. 277 billion," said the man who was familiarly called Ipunk at a press conference for PSDKP Performance in Semester I-2024 at the KKP Office, Jakarta, Friday, August 2.

The number of cases that have been successfully uncovered has increased compared to last year. Director of Fishery Resources Supervision of the KKP Drama Panca Putra said, at least 15 cases of fry smuggling were successfully revealed in 2023.

Of the total 15 cases, Drama said as many as 1.3 million fry were rescued and released into the wild.

"The results of our supervision will certainly increase because the collaboration of law enforcement officers is increasing," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) reported that Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) from lobster cultivation reached IDR 3,606,692,000 since the enactment of lobster governance regulations.

Of this total, Rp2,705,019,000 will be allocated to the cultivators, while the remaining Rp901,673,000 will be managed by BLU for a sustainable lobster management program.

"Since the Ministerial Regulation (Permen) 7 (2024) was enforced, the number (PNBP) is around Rp. 3.6 billion. Imagine if so far many people say that every day BBL flies abroad, we get nothing. Now, we have PNBP thanks to this policy," said Assistant for Special Media Tasks and Public Communication of the KKP Doni Ismanto in a press conference related to the Update on the Development of the Lobster Seed Smuggling Case (BBL) at the KKP office, Thursday, July 18.

Doni said that this state revenue donation marked the success of the Lobster Governance policy through the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation (PermenKP) Number 7 of 2024.

He also denied the issue that this new regulation would facilitate BBL exports.
