Inaugurating Makassar MSME Center, BSI Strengthens MSME Empowerment In Eastern Indonesia

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) inaugurated the fourth MSME Center in Makassar City, precisely on Jl. Saddang Lama River No.40, South Maradekaya, Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The inauguration of the Makassar MSME Center is BSI's effort to optimize the role of people's economic actors in Eastern Indonesia.

President Director of BSI Hery Gunardi said the presence of the Makassar MSME Center was BSI's effort to be able to capture and find new MSME potentials in Eastern Indonesia. Moreover, the Makassar BSI Region has a very wide coverage, namely the entire island of Sulawesi, Maluku, to the island of Papua.

As of June 2024, BSI has distributed financing to MSMEs amounting to Rp47.72 trillion or grew 14.54 percent on an annual basis. Where currently BSI has more than 3,281 assisted MSMEs that continue to be fostered and some have succeeded in going internationally.

Hery said the BSI MSME Center is a forum for business actors in this segment in obtaining training, coaching, financing, business assistance, to helping the product marketing process. According to Hery, MSME players who take advantage of the program are expected to increase their business scale. These include optimizing business potential to supporting the business digitization process.

"We are committed to continuing to increase the portion of financing for MSMEs with various strategies, one of which is through the MSME Center. We hope that the BSI MSME Center Makassar can be useful for improving classes for MSMEs in eastern Indonesia through various coaching programs," said Hery, in a written statement, Friday, July 26.

Prior to Makassar, the company already had 3 MSME Centers, namely in Aceh, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya. The MSME Center is also a place to consult and obtain halal certification facilitated by BSI.

Hery also emphasized that MSMEs are a segment that will continue to be driven by the composition of financing by BSI. The presence of the MSME Center is part of BSI's efforts to increase the capacity and capability of business actors in this segment. So that a superior and quality Indonesian MSME ecosystem is formed.

BSI MSME financing focuses on businesses that are resilience, strong, and sustainable. So that MSMEs can develop their business in a modern, digitized manner and are even able to enter the global market," said Hery.

In addition, BSI has a platform to support MSMEs, namely BSI MSME Portal and Digital Salam Portal. The BSI MSME Portal is a platform that supports Indonesian MSME players to improve the quality of local products so that they can compete in the Global Market. Meanwhile, Digital Salam Portal is a platform that makes it easier for people to apply for microbid financing digitally, to meet all business and investment needs.

Meanwhile, South Sulawesi Governor Zudan Arif Fakrulloh said South Sulawesi is one of the main gates of trade in Eastern Indonesia. For this reason, with the presence of the BSI MSME Center, we hope that it will become an active collaboration that connects MSMEs with buyers so that they will advance to class and be able to contribute to the regional economy and open up wide job opportunities for the people of South Sulawesi.
