Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said his party would improve urban mass transportation infrastructure in Medan City.
That way, the optimization of urban transportation can be carried out.
Budi said that improving transportation infrastructure requires funds of IDR 1.8 trillion.
The funds are loans from the World Bank or World Bank.
"We evaluated loans from the World Bank as much as Rp1.8 trillion given to Medan and Bandung. From these funds, we will improve urban transportation infrastructure in the two cities. So that the optimization of urban transportation can be carried out," he said in an official statement, Friday, June 28.
Especially in Medan City, said Budi, the support for World Bank funds will be used for the construction of depots, namely the place for stopping the end of the bus.
In addition to the construction of depots, continued Budi, the funds will also be used to repair the Medan City Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors such as pedestrian development and bus stops.
"The Rp1.8 trillion fund is not only for depots, the depot is only Rp300 billion. Repairs are made for one Medan BRT corridor which is almost 10 kilometers long, where there are pedestrians, iconic, safe, and so on stops. In short, you can say that this is a pilot," he said.
Budi said the depot to be built would be equipped with a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU).
This is in line with the plan to take over BRT from the central government to the Medan City Government on August 17, 2024, and the conversion of BRT into electric-based vehicles.
He also opens opportunities for parties interested in collaborating on creative funding through the use of land that is still available at the Amplas Terminal.
"You can build hotels, offices, hospitals, so that the land owned by the state through the Ministry of Transportation is so productive," said the Minister of Transportation.
