Sri Mulyani Asks OJK For Literacy Index And Financial Inclusion To Reach 100 Percent

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati directly asked the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to complete Indonesia's financial literacy and inclusion index to reach 100 percent.

Sri Mulyani hopes that Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar and Chief Executive of the Behavior Supervisory of Financial Services Business Actors, Education, and Protection of OJK Consumers Friderica Widyasari Dewi can complete their duties in providing financial literacy.

"That should be achieved in time as long as Mrs. Kiki and Mr. Mahendra are in OJK, promise, sir? Will you be billed later, Mrs. Kiki," he said at the Financial Education event BUNDAKU OJK, Tuesday, June 25.

Sri Mulyani said in her presentation based on the 2022 OJK survey, that the financial inclusion index for women and men, was 83.88 percent and 86.28 percent, respectively. Then, the financial literacy index for women and men is 50.33 percent and 49.05 percent, respectively.

In general, in 2022, the Indonesian people's financial inclusion index has reached 85.1 percent while the financial literacy index has reached 49.68 percent.

Our conclusion is already 85 percent and the literacy is already above 50 percent. I hope it will be a 100 percent inclusion, and literacy can be 100 percent male or female," he said.

On the same occasion, Chief Executive of the Behavior Supervisory of Financial Services Business Actors, Education and Protection of Consumers of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi said that based on the 2023 National Literacy and Financial Inclusion Survey (SNLIK), the level of inclusion in women and men was 76.08 percent and 73.97 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the literacy rate in women and men is 66.75 percent and 64.14 percent respectively.

"This is very interesting because for how many years we have continued to program for women and for the first time the level of literacy and inclusion of women is higher than their fathers. But it brought up new ones, because then there was a demand for a special program for gentlemen," said the woman who is familiar with Kiki.
