JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Jambi Province noted that the number of users of the QRIS non-cash payment channel was more than 516,806 users.

Head of the Jambi Province BI Representative Office, Warsono, said the number of users and QRIS merchants in Jambi continued to increase as public awareness of security and ease of non-cash transactions increased.

"Increase because the people of Jambi are increasingly using it. We are optimistic that the use will increase, people will be easier to transact, there is no need for payment difficulties and almost all fireworks provide," he said.

Until March 2024 or until the first quarter, the number of QRIS mercy in Jambi reached 309,164, growing 1.48 percent compared to the previous quarter.

From the user side, it also experienced positive growth until March 2024, reaching 516,806 users.

The number of QRIS payment users also increased compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, which was recorded at 497,973 users.

The volume of QRIS transactions in Jambi Province has also increased.

BI reported that the transaction volume until March reached 2,689,659 transactions with a value of Rp407.78 billion.

Warsono emphasized that the increase in the use of QRIS in Jambi will continue to occur along with BI's encouragement through various QRIS socialization and education activities.

BI also cooperates with Payment Services Providers (PJP) and various other policy makers to encourage the public to find out and understand QRIS as a non-cash payment channel, a mechanism for transactions, profits obtained compared to cash transactions.

Education is also carried out to strengthen knowledge about potential risks and mitigation that can be done by customers in non-cash payments so that in the end it can increase the implementation of QRIS in Jambi Province.

Furthermore, BI Jambi will continue to implement QRIS in various communities through coordination with QRIS licensed PJP in various cities and districts in Jambi Province.
