Basuki Crying When Inaugurated The UGM New Building: I Remember 50 Years Ago

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono cried with emotion when he inaugurated the Geological Field Station Building Prof R Soeroso Notohadiprawiro Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Klaten Regency, Central Java.

The momentum was shared by the official Instagram account of the Ministry of PUPR @kemenpupr on Monday, June 10.

"I remember 50 years ago, I was educated by UGM, by our current teachers," he said, sobbing and wiping tears.

"50 years ago it cannot be compared to now because the demands are already different. However, it must be seen that even with limited facilities, you have a Minister of PUPR," he continued.

It is known, UGM is the alma mater of Basuki. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the campus in 1979.

He hopes that better facilities geological students can become more than what has been achieved so far.

"With this more facility, I want in the future Geological students in particular and Gadjah Mada University in general to be more than what we can do now," he hoped.

In the upload, the Ministry of PUPR continues to support efforts to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources through the development of educational infrastructure. One of them is the Geological Field Station Building Prof R Soeroso Notohadiprawiro Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Klaten Regency, Central Java.

The building is built as high as 3 floors, where the 1st floor functions as an open space, the 2nd floor is a library and laboratory and 3rd floor as a study room and is equipped with other supporting facilities.

One student named Hana Zili said, with the construction of various facilities by the Ministry of PUPR, it is hoped that it will support the lecture activities of all students.

"This new campus is extraordinary. It's a new experience, just look at it like there are laboratories, libraries, computer labs. It's like 'Wow, that's really cool, you know'. So, later the facilities can be used to be even better in the future," he added.
