Improve Quality, Ministry Of PUPR Completes Renovation Of Museums In Bandung

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the renovation work of the Indonesian Economy Museum located at the Indonesian Army's Armed Forces (Pussenkav) Complex in Bandung City, West Java.

"The renovation of the Museum aims to take care of the history of the TNI AD Unit which is an important part of the struggle of the Republic of Indonesia and improve the quality of museums in serving the community in accordance with the function of museums as a means of education and tourism," said Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR Diana Kusumastuti in her official statement, Monday, May 13.

Diana said the museum renovation concept was adjusted to the alignment of cultural heritage buildings that maintain the values of military history in Indonesia. With this concept, it is hoped that visitors will feel comfortable with good service and obtain the necessary information.

Renovation of the Museum itself under the responsibility of the West Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Agency (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR with implementing contractors PT Kadita Berceri and CV Prisma Karya Nusantara as supervisory consultants. Museum renovations include structural, architectural to mechanical and electrical work.

The initial building of theoretic Museum is a state house registered as a Type C Cultural Heritage Building, so that the restoration of buildings can be changed or built new.

However, the changes must be adjusted to the pattern of the surrounding buildings or follow the original shape in the surrounding environment.

The museum renovation work is carried out with a design and build mechanism that focuses on optimizing the exhibition space.

It is known that the area of the renovation project of the Museum is about 1990 square meters with a land composition that can be used for buildings or Building Basic Coefficients (KDB) is 60% percent and 40 percent of the land is used for green open spaces or Green Basic Coefficients (KDH).

In accordance with the spatial layout, the museum consists of recipient rooms, exhibition rooms, indoor cafes and outdoor cafes, educational room offices, corridors, toilets, prayer rooms and combat vehicle showcases.

Meanwhile, the Exhibition Room of the Economy Museum is filled with collections of the TNI AD Units related to history, combat vehicles, various types of weapons, equipment, clothing and other artifacts related to the evolution of FIRE in the military context.

The renovation construction work for the Maritime Museum has been carried out for 96 days since September 27, 2023 and has been completed 100 percent in December 2023.

It is hoped that with the completion of the renovation work, the Economy Museum can become a new tourist destination in the city of Bandung as a vehicle for military history education in Indonesia in fostering a sense of love for the country, especially for the younger generation.
