Ojol Can't Get Subsidized Fuel, Bahlil: Is The Business Period Subsidized?

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil lahadalia revealed the new criteria for customers who are entitled to consume subsidized fuel.

Bahlil said, in the new regulation, online motorcycle taxi vehicles (ojol) will not be included in the subsidized fuel recipient group (BBM).

"(Ojol) is not (subsidized)," said Bahlil, quoted on Thursday, November 28.

Bahlila explained that the reason the order not to provide subsidies to ojol was because the vehicle was used for business activities. In fact, he said, subsidized fuel is only given to people in need and public transportation equipment.

"He uses the motorcycle taxi for business. Really, the business period is subsidized?," continued Bahlil.

Furthermore, Bahlil said, not all ojol drivers are the original owners of the vehicle. He considered that some of the two-wheeled vehicles turned out to be owned by others and employed the driver.

"Alhamdulillah, if the motorbike is, our brothers and sisters have some of the motorbikes. But some of them also have people who then our brothers and sisters who brought them are employed. Yes, right? Maybe there are also my friends who have motorbikes, after that, their brothers from the regions, come with Ojek. How come this is subsidized?" explained Bahlil.

He also said that in the latest fuel distribution there would be two schemes, namely blending or mixing, namely in the form of Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) and goods subsidies.

He assessed that this langka was taken to increase people's purchasing power while ensuring that subsidies were given to those who really needed them.

"The scheme is most likely blending. Blending between subsidies and some subsidies of BLT," said Bahlil.
