IKN And Balsam Toll Roads Are Confirmed To Be Connected Before August 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) ensures that the Capital Nusantara Access Toll Road (IKN) will be integrated with the Balikpapan-Samarinda (Balsam) Toll Road before August 2024.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the IKN Access Toll Road would be connected to the Balsam Toll Road, precisely at KM 8-Kariangau. Thus, later road users will not need to pass the Balam Toll Road until KM 33. Then, go to Sepaku and enter IKN Nusantara which takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

"27 kilometers of IKN (km) from Kariangau to the Balang Island Bridge. This is what we will use on August 17, 2024, as many as 3 lanes," Basuki said in his official statement, Monday, May 13.

As a whole, the progress of toll road construction has reached 81 percent and is expected to be used functionally before the August 17, 2024 ceremony at IKN Nusantara.

Currently, the construction of toll roads continues, including overpass work, beautification and completeness of toll roads.

Basuki said, overall there were no obstacles in the construction of the IKN Access Toll Road, only a little attention was needed on the construction of the Wain River bridge because of the soil structure.

"Physically, there are no obstacles for the construction of the IKN toll road, but there are few in this location (River Wain Bridge), but we are trying to complete all of August 2024," he said.

For your information, the construction of the IKN Access Toll Road, which is currently running, has three sections, namely Section 3A Karangjoang-KKT Kariangau with a length of 13.4 km with progress reaching 77 percent.

Next, Section 3B KKT Kariangau-Tempang Tempadung Section is 7.3 km long with progress of 80 percent and Section 5A Simpang Tempadung-Jembatan Pulau Balang along 6.7 km with progress of 82 percent.
