Founder Involved In Timah Corruption Case, Sriwijaya Air Ensures Flight Operations Run Normal

Sriwijaya Air Group has opened its voice that the operations of the Sriwijaya Air Group airline are still operating normally. Despite the alleged corruption case of tin commodity trading in the PT Timah Mining Business Permit (IUP) area in 2015-2022 involving the founder (Co-founder) Sriwijaya Air Hendry Lie.

Sriwijaya Air Group's Corporate Communication Zaidan said that the operations of the Sriwijaya Air Group airline were not affected and continued to serve its loyal customers amid the issue of tin cases that developed a few days ago.

"We still uphold professionalism in flight operations so far," he explained in his statement, Wednesday, May 1.

Zaidan said that Sriwijaya Air Group did not deny the news regarding the existence of a Sriwijaya Air Group founder who was suspected of being involved in the case of tin commodity trading in the Mining Business Permit (IUP) area of PT. Timah.

"As the news developed a few days ago, as we know together with one of the founders of Sriwijaya Air, there was a case of tin commodity trading in the Mining Business Permit (IUP) area of PT. Timah," he explained.

According to Zaidan, his party basically respects the ongoing legal process and the case has nothing to do with Sriwijaya Air's business operations.

"In principle, we respect the ongoing legal process, however, the case has nothing to do with PT Sriwijaya Air as a different business entity," he said.

Zaidan also emphasized that the case had nothing to do with PT. Sriwijaya Air as a different business entity.

"This also does not have the potential for disruption of operational services on flights and ensures that it is implemented according to existing standards," he concluded.

Previously, two of the five new suspects in the alleged corruption case in the tin commodity trading system in the Mining Business Permit (IUP) PT Timah Tbk from 2015 to 2022, were known to be the founders of Sriwijaya Air. They are Hendry Lie (HL) and Fandy Lingga (FL).

"Yes, it is true (the founder of Sriwijaya Air)," said the Head of the AGO, Ketut Sumedana, quoted Monday, April 29.

In the case of alleged tin corruption, Hendry Lie has not been detained. Meanwhile, Fandy Lingga has been detained.
