JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation plans to buy three series of trains or automatic rail transits (ART) or autonomous trains from China. The train is for fleets in the State Capital (IKN).

Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation Risal Wasal said that this autonomous trainset would consist of three carriages.

"The initial stage is 3 trainsets, 1 trainset 3 (carriage) train. So a total of 9 trains," he told reporters written Wednesday, April 3.

But unfortunately, Risal did not reveal how much investment was needed to buy the three autonomous trainsets.

Even so, Risal ensured that this autonomous train made in China had proven its quality. The reason is, it has been operated in 6 countries.

"Yes, from China, which has operated in 6 countries. So it's not new to us, no. There have been many benefits in other countries, such as Malaysia, in Kuching," he said.

Previously reported, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the construction of the autonomous train or Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) went according to the government's plan.

Budi ensured that the construction went smoothly after reviewing the construction site for the autonomous train or ART at IKN, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, yesterday.

"I see the construction going according to plan," Budi said in an official statement, Friday, March 1.

Budi said that the use of ART in IKN is a leap in the use of future transportation technology, namely railless trains.

Furthermore, Budi also explained, ART will be operated using batteries that are substituted with road and magnetic markings. Later, the train will be in the East National Aquaculture and the West National Aquaculture area, where the phase of the construction of the route will be carried out in two phases.

"A set of ARTs consists of two carriages, with a total passenger capacity of 324 people. The operational speed is 40 km per hour and a maximum of 70 km per hour," said Budi.
