JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is currently preparing to hold the 10th World Water Forum in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.

"Within the remaining 51 days to go to the 10th World Water Forum on 18-25 May 2024 in Bali, the Indonesian Government has made various very thorough preparations involving all relevant stakeholders," said Special Staff to the Minister of PUPR for Water Resources Firdaus Ali at the Road to 10th World Water Forum Press Conference: "Preparation of Good Success in Implementation" online, Thursday, March 28.

Firdaus said that one of the preparations that had been made by the Government of Indonesia was to attend forums in various worlds. This is done to promote the 10th WWF to the world.

"So in the context of the roadshow, we attended the forum, be it the United Nations (UN) Water Conference in New York in March of the year. Then, we attended Stockholm International Water Week in August 2023. We were also present at the 18th world water congress in Beijing in September," he said.

He added that Indonesia was also participating in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) 28th in Dubai in November 2023.

"Then, we also held a Briefing Session from the 10th WWF in Geneva on January 19, 2024 and we just explained our preparations in Bali later on World Water Day in New York last week," said Firdaus.

By attending these various international forums, said Firdaus, the Indonesian government wants to convince the world that Indonesia will be ready to hold the 10th WWF in Bali in May.

"So, we have attended a lot of forums and we want to make sure that God willing (Indonesia) will be ready to present not only forums in Bali, but forums that will mark our commitment to the rest of this civilization to resolve issues related to water and of course also related to the availability of water on this planet," he added.

It is known, the World Water Council as a world institution that deals with water issues chose Indonesia as the host of the 10th World Water Forum in 2024.

This activity will take place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Nusa Dua, Bali, on May 18-25, 2024.

Later, there will be three discussions in the 10th World Water Forum, namely three topics on thematic, political and regional issues.

In the thematic topic, six subthemes have been determined, namely Water Security and Prosperity, Water for Humans and Nature, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Governance, Cooperation, and Hydro-diplomacy Sustainable Water Finance, Knowledge and Innovation.

Next, regional topics are divided into four regions, namely the Mediterranean, Asia Pacific, Africa and America. Discussions are needed at the regional level, because each region has different uniqueness and challenges about water.

Then, on political topics it is divided into meetings at the level of heads of state, ministers, parliament, local governments and river regional authorities.

The implementation of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali in May is a momentum to increase cooperation for global water management.

By bringing hope that the World Water Forum will become a place for various stakeholders from various countries to share experiences and innovation in responding to a number of water management challenges globally.
