Riau BKSDA Follows Up Reports Of Residents Attacked By Tigers In Siak

PeKANBARU - Riau Province Natural Resources Conservation Center followed up on the alleged tiger's handover to a man while fishing for Sungai Rawa Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency.

"Regarding this incident, we have received a report and currently the team is heading to the scene for further coordination with the parties at the site level in an effort to handle it further," said Head of the Technical Division of the Riau BKSDA, Ujang Holisidin, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 28.

It is known that the identity of the victim was Panji aged 23, a resident of Mekar Sari Hamlet, Sungai Tengah Village, Sabak Auh District, Siak. The victim suffered injuries to the head, right shoulder and knee due to the bite and scratch of the tiger's nails.

Regarding the chronology of the incident, the Head of the Siak Resort Police, AKBP Asep Sujarwadi, said that on Wednesday afternoon (27/11) the victim and 8 other witnesses departed from their residence to Kampung Sungai Rawa using a motorbike with the aim of fishing.

Ahead of sunset, the victim and other witnesses arrived at Jalan Poros Menangkap - Sungai Rawa. They then fish by moving from canal to canal.

At around 21.00 WIB the victim and other witnesses entered Jalan Datuk Limapuluh Kampung Sungai Rawa, Sungai Apit District. An hour later one of the witnesses saw the victim being attacked by a tiger from behind the victim's body and screamed for help from his friends.

"Other friends came to help the victim, saw the victim's friend coming, then the tiger just left, then friends took the victim to the Kampung Kentang Polindes for first aid," he said.

At around 23.30 WIB, the victim from Polindes Captang was taken to the Sungai Apit Community Health Center using an ambulance.

On Thursday (28/11) at 01.00 WIB, the victim arrived at the Sungai Apit Health Center for medical treatment.
