JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif asked PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Northwest Java (PHE ONWJ) to optimize its production.

This was conveyed by Arifin during a review of the PHE ONWJ Offshore project in Cirebon on Tuesday, March 26.

Just so you know, PHE ONWJ is one of the oldest oil and gas fields in Indonesia, which has been operating since 1966 and is still producing today.

Arifin said, although it is an old field, it is still a prospect to be developed, especially in the twodownfields which were first discovered in 1974 and the GOX Complex field.

"I want to take a closer look here, which still has prospects, namely the Right Field and GQX Complex, and we have agreed to accelerate the development of the GOX Field so that it is fast to produce again," Arifin said in his statement, Tuesday, March 26.

In addition, Arifin also asked PHE ONWJ to improve its performance, especially regarding the preparation of infrastructure for development projects and optimizing the use of Floting Storage and Offloading (FSO).

"There needs to be time efficiency in developing GQX Complex because of its great potential," added Arifin.

Arifin further reminded the importance of maintaining enthusiasm for increasing oil production as the need continues to increase so that imports do not get bigger.

"The spirit is maintained because oil is a vital need to maintain its availability, lest the demand continues to increase, because we continue to try to reduce it if it goes down, it goes down slowly, if it can be added, why not," said Arifin.

PHE ONWJ's achievement, since 2009 was monitored by PT Pertamina, in 2023 it recorded the following production, namely oil realization of 26,580 BOPD from the APBN target of 29,000 BOPD or 91.6 percent.

For gas realization, it is 73.9 MMSCFD and there is no target in the APBN. Meanwhile, the gas flow was realized by 52.4 MMSCFD from the APBN target of 55 MMSCFD or 95.3 percent.

"Achievement until March 17, 2024, namely oil realization of 25,773 BOPD from the APBN target of 3,077 BOPD or 85.7 percent. Meanwhile, gas realization is 73.5 MMSCFD and there is no target in the APBN. For naturalized gas channel of 50.4 MMSCFD from the APBN target of 40 MMSCFD or 95.3 percent," explained Pjs General Manager PHE ONWJ Wirdan Arifin.

According to Wirdan, PHE ONWJ's production includes the top 5 as oil producers in Indonesia.

PHE ONWJ has a large offshore operation area in the waters of North West Java. The PHE ONWJ work area stretches an area of 8,300 square kilometers from the Thousand Islands to Cirebon, West Java. This asset operates more than 200 offshore platforms and more than 200 active wells. PHE ONWJ is known for its reliability in operating offshore oil and gas operations facilities.
