PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono Wants The Young Generation To Be Involved In The 10th WWF In Bali, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono invites the younger generation to be involved in organizing the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) which will be held in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.

Basuki assessed that the participation of the younger generation is needed to overcome several challenges that pose a threat to the availability of adequate clean water supplies due to rapid population growth and uncontrolled development and climate change.

Globally, around 2.1 billion people still live without access to water and 80 percent of the population living in rural areas still use water from inadequate sources.

According to him, in overcoming this challenge, it is very important to implement integrated water resource management through strong collaboration between the government, parliamentary, private sector, academics, communities and the younger generation.

"One of the most significant drivers of integrated water resource management is human resources, especially the younger generation," said Basuki in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, March 25.

Sharing knowledge with experts, academics, policymakers and practitioners, said Basuki, will improve the competence of the younger generation to contribute through various innovations and technologies.

"So, it is hoped that the younger generation can participate in producing solutions to water challenges that are more effective, efficient and adaptive," he said.

Therefore, Basuki invites the younger generation to actively participate in the upcoming 10th WWF and collaborate with other stakeholders to overcome all water challenges, both current and potential challenges in the future.

Furthermore, Basuki said, WWF 2024 is an excellent opportunity for the younger generation to discuss and exchange knowledge with a number of stakeholders from various countries to find strategic and implemented solutions to overcome various water resource challenges.

"This effort is important to realize prosperity together and bring peace through water resources," he added.

For your information, Young Water Sustainability Leaders (YWSL) is one of the series of activities held to welcome the 10th WWF event in 2024 in Bali.

YWSL activities began with an Online Bootcamp involving 300 young participants worldwide. The YWSL series will soon close with the selection of winners who will be delegates on the 10th WWF in Bali.
