JAKARTA - Commission VII DPR RI wants Nuclear Power Plants (PLTN) to be included in the Draft Law on New Energy and Renewable Energy (RUU EBET).
Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI from the PAN faction, Eddy Soeparno, said that actually the nuclear clause had been discussed and there were no problems.
"There is no problem. Nuclear is the question of when to move nuclear energy and whether it needs to enter or not. We still want the nuiklir to be included in the EBET Law," said Eddy to the media quoted on Thursday, March 21.
Eddy ensured that the construction of PLTN still needed DPR approval considering that nuclear needs high security and safety protocols.
Eddy said that Commission VII also wants to ensure that nuclear development is not given to parties who do not have good competence and track record.
"Therefore, we want to remain large or small, still approved by the DPR," concluded Eddy.
Previously, the National Energy Council (DEN) said that in the preparation of the PP update Number 79 of 2014, nuclear would no longer be the last option but the equivalent of new and renewable energy.
"There are no more words as a last resort," said Secretary General of the National Energy Council (DEN) Djoko Siswanto during a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 17.
