Having A High Risk, PGN Inaugurates HSSE Demo Room Medan

PT PGN Tbk inaugurated the Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Demo Room located at the PGN Medan Office, Glugur, North Sumatra.

Deputy President Director of Pertamina Wiko Migantoro said, HSSE Demo Room is important in improving the cultural internalization of HSSE implementation in the work environment, plus PGN manages natural gas business activities that have a high level of risk in the aspect of work safety.

Just so you know, HSSE Demo Room Medan will be an induction facility for workers and partners related to 16 Elements of Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR). Namely, Tools & Equipment Rules, Safe Zone Position, Permit to Work, Isolation Rules, Confined Space, Lifting Operation, Fit to Work, Working at Heigh, Personal Floating Device Rules, System Override rules, Asset Integrity Rules, Excavation Rules, Gas Test Rules, Seat Belt Rules, and No Alcohol & Illegal Drugs Rules.

"HSSE Demo Room is one of the platforms for implementing the Pertamina CLSSR to control risk so that all upstream to downstream Migas operations of Pertamina Group can be carried out safely," said Wiko in his statement quoted on Tuesday, March 19.

Meanwhile, PGN President Director Arief Setiawan Handoko hopes that the HSSE Demo Room will further increase awareness of the importance of aspects in the work environment, especially to achieve zero fatality.

"Security aspects must always be remembered and obeyed by PGN and partners. With the HSSE Demo Room, we can see firsthand the tools for complete work security management along with other security guidelines, so that it is very supportive of PGN's main activities in managing natural gas distribution," said Arief.

Arif explained, in addition to the guidance of 16 CSLR elements, on the HSSE Demo Room Medan prototypes and types of work on the construction of low to high pressure natural gas pipeline infrastructure, illustrations of different pipe excavation depths based on the amount of pressure,valve natural gas, and supporting equipment for natural gas networks both offshore and onshore.

With the display of these things, it is hoped that it can increase understanding and knowledge in managing the risk of natural gas business network services including high-risk work.

Previously, PGN had also operated the HSSE Demo Room located in Bandung. This HSSE Demo Room Medan will complement the implementation facilities for HSSE PGN Subholding Gas in managing natural gas utilization for all customers in the Sales and Operation Region 1 (SOR 1) area which includes Sumatra and its surroundings.

In the SOR 1 area, currently PGN serves 137,811 customers which are divided into 136,603 households, 758 Small Customers and 450 Industrial Commercials with a distribution volume of 124.77 BBTUD.

According to Arief, the implementation of HSSE aspects needs to be implemented from the top management level to workers in order to carry out comprehensive safe business operations.

"Socialization and education regarding HSSE have been attended by around 6000 personnel, both internal and partners, Subholding Gas and must continue to be socialized so that internal PGN and partners are always imprinted on the Safety culture when entering the PGN Group operating area. In addition, potential hazards must be well understood in order to prevent incidents and implementation of HSSE can take place effectively," said Arief.
