JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of North Sumatra, Directorate General of Human Settlements is conducting rehabilitation and renovation of Teladan Stadium in Medan City, North Sumatra.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono conveyed that the Ministry of PUPR is committed to continuing to support the improvement of national sports achievements through the development and rehabilitation of sports facilities and infrastructure.

"Through this rehabilitation and renovation work, it is hoped that this Exemplary Stadium can be a better means of sports for North Sumatra residents and can support the organization of other events, especially in the field of football," Basuki said in a statement to the media, Saturday, March 16.

The Teladan Stadium, located in Teladan Barat Village, Medan Kota District, Medan City, was built starting in 1951 and inaugurated in 1953 ahead of the implementation of PON III in 1953. Through this rehabilitation and renovation work, the stadium will be rebuilt with a land area of 36,000 m2 and a total of 3 floors.

Head of BPPW Deva Kurniawan Rahmadi said the rehabilitation and renovation of the Teladan Stadium was carried out by PT Wijaya Karya Bangunan as the implementing contractor since December 2023 at a cost of IDR 275.09 billion sourced from APBN funds.

In addition, the rehabilitation of this stadium is also a form of collaboration with the Medan City Government for the physical work of supporting facilities and infrastructure for the Exemplary Stadium at a cost of Rp129.1 billion sourced from the Medan City APBD funds.

"The rehabilitation and renovation of the Teladan Stadium currently reaches 3 percent progress and is targeted to be completed in full by December 2024. Later this stadium will be able to accommodate as many as 20,080 spectators, namely 20,000 units for regular spectators and 80 units for disabled spectators," said Deva.

The scope of work includes preparation work, land work, structural work, architectural work, MEP work, roof work, and restoration work.
