BI Collaborates With National Banking To Serve Money Exchange From March 15 To April 7, 2024

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) in collaboration with national banks and other partners provides rupiah currency exchange services from March 15 to April 7, 2024 to meet the needs of the community in welcoming Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr 2024.

The money exchange service provided by national banks throughout Indonesia will last until April 7, 2024, while the services prepared by BI will last until April 5, 2024.

"Bank Indonesia is preparing a distribution fee of IDR 197.6 trillion to meet the needs of exchanging rupiah currency at the time of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr 2024," said BI Deputy Governor Doni P Joewono at the launch of Serambi 2024 in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, March 15.

Doni said the amount of money worth distribution (ULE) provided by BI in the Rupiah Rupiah Ramadan and Berkah Idulfitri (Serambi) 2024 Program increased 4.65 percent compared to the realization in 2023 which was recorded at IDR 188.8 trillion.

Through the 2024 Serambi Program, BI continues to ensure the availability of sufficient rupiah currency with a decent quality in all regions of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), especially in welcoming Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri or 2024 AD.

Anticipate the increase in the number of ULEs prepared to consider increasing community mobility during the Ramadan and Eid period and increasing economic growth. Based on data from the Ministry of Transportation and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), community movement during Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri is predicted to reach 193.6 million people.

To support rupiah currency exchange services for the community, BI cooperates with banks to provide points of rupiah currency exchange services throughout Indonesia. BI also invites the public to optimize payments for non-cash transactions to support the digital economy and finance.

The strengthening of the Serambi 2024 program is carried out, among others, by increasing the number of exchange packages to a maximum of Rp. 4 million, modernizing the mobile cash fleet, adding features to the digitization of exchanges through QR codes on the Rupiah Exchange and Withdrawal Application (Pintar) to make it easier for the public to make exchanges.

Doni said that from March 15 to April 7, 2024, people can exchange rupiah currency at 4,264 commercial bank office service points spread throughout Indonesia.

Meanwhile, BI provides 449 points of money exchange services throughout Indonesia, especially at crowded and strategic points such as markets, stations, terminals, ports, rest toll roads.

BI also provides rupiah currency exchange service options through Mobile Cash Services in strategic locations such as traditional and modern markets, and River Susur Mobile Cash in several areas.

Especially for the DKI Jakarta area, BI together with banks will provide Integrated Exchange Services on March 28-31, 2024 at Istora Senayan. In the regions, the same thing will be held, among others, in stadiums and city squares.

Meanwhile, starting April 2-5, 2024, Bank Indonesia will add locations for exchange services on the homecoming route through the BI Cares for Homecoming Program, namely at toll road rest areas and transportation hubs such as ports and train stations.

For rupiah currency exchange services, both through mobile cash (except for cash around the River Susur), integrated exchange services, and BI care about going home, the public is expected to order exchange first through the Smart Application.

Serambi 2024 is also a moment for Bank Indonesia to invite the Indonesian people to love, be proud, and understand rupiah even more.
